I'm Palmer Haasch, an early-career entertainment & culture journalist. My primary beats are fandom, internet culture, and all-ages programming, but I have experience covering general entertainment, video games, and queer media. I previously worked as an editorial intern at Polygon and an entertainment media intern at GLAAD, and I am an alumni of NLGJA's 2018 Connect Student Journalism project. I'm currently one of two Lead Junior Editors at GLAAD's youth content platform, amp, and a staff columnist at the Minnesota Daily.
I'm Minneapolis-based and in my final year as an undergrad at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. This May I will graduate summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English and French Studies with a minor in Political Science.
My undergraduate thesis is an investigation of character archetypes in real-person fanfiction and the cultural work that fanfiction does in fandoms centered about real people. I use fanfiction about K-pop septet BTS as a case study!
When I'm not writing for work, I'm writing music, writing my thesis, and writing for fun. When I'm not writing, I'm bingeing the latest animated Netflix Original, rewatching my favorite cartoons, and carefully crafting Twitter threads.
